Yehuda Gur Arye is a poet, prose writer, editor, and translator. Born in Bessarabia–Romania in 1934, he was deported as a child to a Romanian concentration camp in Transnistria, where he spent three and a half years. He has lived in Israel since his youth. Gur Arye uses a realistic style in which the profile of each character is easily recognizable. At the same time, his writing is clearly driven by a worldview in which justice and integrity play a central role. His values and life experience are present throughout every plot and situation he chooses to explore. This book is a significant and distinctive contribution to contemporary Hebrew literature.
